Dear Parents,
I think I say this every year at this time but, it is so true that i must say it again....time flies when you are having fun. Can you believe that we have only 8 more days of school? It seems like it just zoomed in...soon I will be taking things off of the walls and all that will be left will be dust and shadow splotches...very sad!!! And yet very exciting. The summer is before us. Sun and beach and family time and sleeping in and of course tons of free reading. I hope I will see you on the beaches...thats where I love to go, so look for me!!
Here is how the end of our year is shaping up:
Monday, June 20th: We will be writing letters to Charlie Puth, telling him how we love his music...we do listen to him every day and then we will be sending it to him and hoping that when he comes to Vancouver on November 3rd, he might want to stop in at Bayview and visit us??? I figure we're just "one call away!!: Ask your child to sing that song for you!! haha...they have it pretty much memorized. In the afternoon after all that writing we will be walking to our final Purple Dragon Karate class. The children are doing really well. It is an amazing program if you are looking for something for your child to do during the summer.
Wednesday, June 22nd: In the morning a summer sun and safety presentation by the nursing students at ubc and in the afternoon a presentation by the Vancouver Public Library about the summer reading program.
Thursday, June 23rd: We will be harvesting our spuds. Do I have a harvester for the morning??? Karen, instead of art????
We will be harvesting, counting and then cooking them up in the afternoon and then feasting on them as well. They are sooo yummy.
Friday, June 24th: Assembly in the morning with a former student. Arthur and his band will be coming in and playing for us. After recess we will be heading to Jericho Beach for our first beach day. That is if the weather is permitting....so do your sun dance now!! We will be walking right after recess and coming back to the school for 300. If there is one parent who would like to walk with me there, I would appreciate it. On that day, no lunch mom is needed (Michelle that's you). Any parents who would like to join us at the beach are more than welcome. On this day, the children are allowed to play on the beach, go into the water up to their knees, but no swimming please as I'm not sure if there will be life guards. Please send your child with a hearty lunch and fluids , a towel, sunscreen, and if you can try to put it all in their backpack, i would appreciate that!
Monday, June 27th: Beach day again, except we will be leaving at 900 am and returning around 1230. We will have an early lunch and as soon as we finish eating our lunch we will be coming back to Bayview. Gina's play is in the afternoon so we want to be there to support Division 1 who has worked very hard on it. Same rules and requests, hearty lunch, water, towel, sunscreen and no swimming. Once again I could use a parent to walk with me and stay with me there till lunch. Can you let me know if you are available.
Wednesday, June 29th: Last day of school.
Assembly till recess.
Cleanup after recess till lunch.
Movie and popcorn or dance party (Michelle enjoyed it so much this last Friday that I'm sure she will want to be there for this one as well!!) students choice for our last day.
Dismissal, hugs, and report cards!!
Enjoy your Sunday...let's hope the sun comes out!!!
Ps. Sorry no pictures...With all that dancing that went on on Friday, I completely forgot!!
Cheers,
Teri

Good Morning Everyone,
We experienced every kind of weather yesterday sun, rain, clouds etc and I hear thats what the plan is for all week. So when it's sunny, make sure you get out there and play!! I have been happy for the rain as it has helped out the garden that we have planted at the church. The other day when the kids and I went out there to release our butterflies the boxes and the spuds were very dry, which brings me to my first request. Between Ms. Jung's class and I we will need waterers beginning now and throughout the summer. Is there anyone that can volunteer a day during the school year to go and water the planter boxes. Ms. Jung and I will create a summer schedule as well so if you know of a week in the summer that you can check on our gardens then let me know and I will put you into the schedule. Unfortunately it looks like we have left it too long and a lot of the plants are severely dried out...maybe this beautiful rain will bring them back to life. You can email me if you can do some watering or let me know in the morning at school.
Speaking of school.....
We have been sooo busy with sooo many things and before you know it it will be summer already. Time has flown which it always does when you are having fun! Posted outside our classroom is a list of all the fun things that are going to be happening for the month of June. The first fun event is tomorrow...
OUR HIDDEN TALENTS SHOW. Yep it is tomorrow. The children are excited.Sarah is excited. I am nervous. Hahaha. We plan to set up in the library, rehearse in the morning, then do our presentation at 1100. So, make your way directly to the library where the chairs will be set up for you. They look forward to presenting their little skits to you.
On Monday is our second Karate session. Our first karate session was excellent. The children had so much fun with sensei Gemma. They did a lot of exercises which had them breathing hard and sweating. They had relays, learned some punches and some kicks and especially how to listen to the instructor. It is an amazing program with amazing instructors. I will take pictures tomorrow.
This last week at school had us busy learning about Switzerland from Michelle (our student from Staad, whose last day was Friday), releasing butterflies, spending two days with Ms. Craig (Tuesday and Wednesday), and doing our routine activities, math, spelling and art. Working on our group quilt with Theron's mom (Michelle), baking strawberry muffins (very yummy). The children have been very well behaved and have been working hard but I think they are ready for the summer, as that buzz is in the air of what they are planning to do! Read our door to get a glimpse of some of our activities planned.
With that, I hope you have a great week. Enjoy the pictures. Hope to see you all tomorrow at 1100 for their day of Talent.
Teri
PS. I have a single bed (practically brand new) and an extra single mattress. We are putting in larger beds for our bigger kids. If you want or know anyone who needs another single bed, we would love to give them to you. Just let me know.
