Good Morning (amost afternoon!) to everyone.
It is definitely not as sunny as it was yesterday but I hope you are still able to get out! Put your cozy rain jackets and boots on and go jump in some puddles!! I saw the weather reports and it said it will be raining all week. Please send your child in appropriate clothing..and if they do not have a change of clothes, then send some along and we will keep it in our in class bathroom.
We had a great week at school. Our first week of December! Wow. Only two weeks left before the winter holidays arrive. Time does really fly when you are having fun! We work hard and we also have a lot of fun! On Friday we got to free play, free read, do art and then end our day with some dancing to go noodle!! What a great way to end our week.
This week we spent time talking about what we can do to be helpful at home and we wrote this in our Kindness Ninja books. WE talked about different feelings and emotions that we may be having right now. We talked about how to go from a red zone to a green zone. What do we do? ASk your child the strategies that they use to go from red to green? Daily I ask the children what their "number" is. Most children say they are a ten. A few say a five..when they say that I do ask them why? MOst often they say, they are tired, they didnt get enough sleep, they had to rush to school. So we are working on strategies where they can be accountable at home so that they get to school at higher than a 5. A few do say they are a zero. For those children I take them aside and we have a little chat about why they are feeling so blue. We also then work hard to improve their mood so they that they are closer to a ten before they leave.
Daily we continue to read, write and do arithmetic!! It is important to do home reading every day. Either through the home reading books that they bring home, or through Razz kids, or a combination of both. It is very important to listen to them read outloud and talk about the book. Even for those grade twos who are amazing readers, listening and discussing the books is an important skill for them to develop.
This week we will be doing many winter craft activities. They will be bringing some wonderful things home to share with you. Also, I have almost all their Fall work sorted, so you will be receiving a big package of all the things that they have been working on! Enjoy going through it with them.
Finally I would like to thank all of you for your support and kindness and allowing me to teach your wonderful children. They truly bring me joy!
Take care and enjoy the pictures.
