Good Morning
Today I have lots and lots of pictures for you, so I will keep the talking/reading down so that you can admire the little sweet faces and their concentration. The first set of pictures was taken on Pink Shirt Day. Thank you for supporting this day (and all days) where we talk about being kind to each other.Where we look after each other. Where we understand the feelings and show empathy for each other's feelings. We support each other. These set of pictures were taken during our Drop Everything And Read time. We read every day after lunch for 25 to 30 minutes. They are all getting to be such great readers.
The second set of pictures is of the children starting to work on their STEAM projects. Our Hibernation Stations. Thank you for sending their supplies. Prior to the project the children were taught about structures, hibernation, animals who adapt and insulators (and what insulation meant). Then they were given their supplies and told...that they were all supposed to use their two feet of foil, one paper plate, one piece of cardboard and then create a safe shelter for their three animals. A shelter that would keep them warm from the environment and keep them safe from predators. And they needed to take at least 40 minutes to create their shelter (I wanted them to really think about their shelter and not just pile their items on the plate and say they were done!).
Then the final set of pictures is their structures. They were sooo proud of their hibernation stations. I hope that you enjoyed listening to them talk about their projects. I sure enjoyed watching them make them. The conversations that they had with each other, the compliments they gave each other was so rich and valuable.
We will be doing another Steam challenge in our last week of school prior to SpringBreak.
Thank you for all your support.
Enjoy the pictures!
