Friday May 22nd 2020

Today is Blog Friday!!
Doesn’t that sound funny??
Today we will be making a salad. I know for some you will think...That isn’t hard?! Well it is, and it is also really fun to make a salad, especially one that you have made with all your own grown vegetables! Then I will share a very yummy salad dressing that Mrs. Montagano taught me how to make.

Today’s salad will have these things from my garden:

Spinach: has lots of iron..good for your blood
Kale: lots of vitamin c and vitamin k..good for your heart
Mesclun greens: high in vitaminA which is good for eyes
Beet tops: good source of fiber and lots of other excellent things
Celery: good for your digestion
Chives: helps you sleep and keeps your bones strong.

Then I will add tomatoes and cucumbers that are from a store, because they haven’t produced any fruit just yet.

The salad dressing is called:

 Tahini Dressing
Put all the ingredients into a jar and shake:
2 tbsp tahini (this is a sesame seed paste)
One clove of garlic
2 tbsp of olive oil
2 tbsp of apple cider vinegar (balsamic or other viegars work too)
Pinch of salt and a pinch of pepper
A bit of water so that it is a little bit less thick
Really yummy!!!

Today after you watch the video I want you to pretend you are making a yummy salad for yourself.
Draw a giant bowl.
Then cut out things you would want to put into your salad…
Use a magazine or use old advertisements.
Create a salad from your imagination…it can have anything EDIBLE in it.
Then give it a name that you would want to call this yummy salad.

This weekend as it is a long weekend, please work on trying to finish up your time capsule. When we get back to school together I will want you to bring it in and we will look at it together. So keep all of your pages with you!

With that, I hope you have a great long weekend.
Remember that Monday is a professional day for teachers!
We are all getting ready to have you back at school and need to do some meetings to prepare.

Enjoy the video and I will see you all soon!

Ms. T
the celery and the zucchini growing in our garden box
Do you see the fave beans? They aren't as tall as some of yours..but i planted a row of them!
All the greens growing...and or giant spuds in tubs
Those tall green pots are our spuds!!
In the yellow pot and the black pot...those are the tomatoes plants.
The cucumber plant has a little yellow flower on it where the cucumber will grow from.
Another tomato plant but this one is in the green house.

Friday, May 8th

 Good Morning boys and girls.
Today you will be making a gluten free and dairy free cookie. Some people are allergic to things that have gluten...and you get that from flour. Some are also allergic to things with dairy (butter etc), so today in the events that some mamas might have these intolerances I decided to try making these. Apparently they taste like brownies. I think they would be perfect for Mother's Day along side some Strawberries. Enjoy the video!!
Flourless Chocolate cookies
Ingredients
  • cooking spray
  • 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 4 egg whites cold
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tsp vanilla optional
Instructions
1.             Preheat oven to 350° and line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats, and very lightly grease with cooking spray.
2.             In a large bowl, combine powdered sugar, cocoa powder, and salt. Stir in egg whites and vanilla then add chocolate chips. Mix well, but do not over mix.
3.             Scoop tablespoon-size mounds onto prepared baking sheets, leave at least two inches between cookies as they will spread. Bake until set, approximately 10 to 12 minutes. Let cool on baking sheet for about 5 minutes then carefully transfer cookies to a cooling rack with a spatula to cool completely.

Today your only other job is to create a lovely card for your mama.
Here is how to do the one I am thinking of...It's called "I love you this much!!"
Trace around your hand in the middle of a white piece of paper. and use your best sharpie.
Then at the end of each finger I want you to draw a heart. The best hearts you can draw.
In the middle of the hand you say..."i love you this much because..."
In each heart print a word that describes your mom...
kind...good cook...simple words like that
sound out your words.
Then colour in your project.. Decorate it with flowers or clouds or raindrops or bicycles..anything that you think you would like to do it with.
I am going to do one for my mom as a sample. But i will not colour it. I will leave the colouring for your imagination.

Add this card to all the sheets you have been doing for your mama and give them to her on Sunday (that is if you haven't given them to her already...whatever you do..is fine!)
Have fun with your mom.
Give her lots of love and kisses!!
Happy Mothers day to everyone!!
