Good Morning
And the countdown is on.
Can you believe it?
We are down to only four more days of school. Wow. We have had a lot of fun this past year and its kind of surreal that it is all coming to an end. Time flies when you are surrounded by those that you care about and i know that we all care and enjoy each other. It is always bittersweet for me and it is especially that because of going to a new location next year. Having said that, it sure was great seeing so many people from the past coming through the Bayview halls on Wednesday. It was so special for me to run into kids I taught 30 years ago, mingled in with hugs from my kids now. My bucket was full!!! So once again there are some details for you here of some of the activities for next week.

Monday: (tomorrow) we will have our icecream treats with our buddy class. I will buy non-dairy treats for those with sensitivities as well, so do not worry..everyone will partake.
Then at lunch ( we will eat first, play later) the pizza will arrive!! yay. There will be cheese and pepperoni pizza, some carrots and some fruit. Please send their own water or juice. The children are pretty excited about our pizza party. Me too..they certainly earned it!!

Tuesday or Wednesday: we will have another beach day. It is weather dependant. If it is rainy on Tuesday we will go on Wednesday. But plan for Tuesday first. As before, we will leave right after recess (11:00) I found that that seems to be just enough time for the littles. Please send a lunch with your child as well as water. Remember that no money is to come to the school with the children as we do not let them go and buy anything at the concession stands. If anyone would like to walk with us, and join us...you are more than welcome. It's always such a relaxing and fun time.

Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday: we will be cleaning our desks out..it is all weather dependent as well. But please send bags along that they can take home all of their "treasures" Some have more desk treasures than others...and we will be cleaning everything out!

Thursday: as per tradition, i hand out bubble gum and we blow bubbles and dance. Do not ask me how this tradition started...but it did and thats what we do. If you do not want your child chewing bubble gum..let me know. But usually they chew for a while, try to blow a bubble, their jaws get sore and the gum is thrown out...it's always fun while it lasts. haha.

And with that...I just want to say thank you to a wonderful bunch of supportive parents. Thank you for everything that you have done. But especially thank you for your children and trusting me with them. They are wonderful!
Enjoy the pictures and I will see you all on Monday.

Happy Father's Day to all the wonderful dad's out there.
Your children were very happy to make their gifts for you and hopefully they will remember to give them to you as well!!
I hope everyone embraces their child and their day. From me to you and your families..have a great one!

To start I once again want to congratulate Jayden and his family..they were the winners of the raffle of our platter. If i could have recorded the delight and picture of Jayden's face it was priceless. I also just want to compliment all the children who applauded for Jayden and weren't sad that they didnt get the platter this year. We will be celebrating next week with some special activities from the money raised.

We have a busy, fun week to look forward to, and can you believe that we only have 9 school days left??? Time is flying by!

Monday: On Monday afternoon we will be walking to our second Purple Dragon Karate experience. We will be leaving at 100. Is there anyone who would like to walk with us? We need one adult to take up the rear. Let me know if you can do this.
Tuesday: It is our last Growing r Chef experience. We will be doing one more planting in our water bottles...science and gardening linked together. We will be saying good bye to our team and receiving our certificates. It has been a wonderful experience for our group and we were lucky to receive such great instruction.
Wednesday: We will be baking bannock with Deana and one of Deana's colleagues, Joyce. This will be our final activity with Deana. We have learned so much from her as you likely have seen while looking through your First Nation's portfolio that your child has brought home. Today we will also have the opportunity to go and see the Grade 7's Science Projects in the afternoon.
Friday: We will be having an ice cream party with Mr. A's class, our buddy class. I usually buy some yummy ice cream treat. I know that  a few children are ice cream sensitive. Let me know and I will get some that are ones that they can eat.

I told the children that behavioral expectations still need to be positive. They need to be active listeners (like the wolf), be patient and respectful like the bear and critical thinkers like the salmon. We continue to work on all our projects. We continue to do math daily write daily and read daily, so behaviour and focus is still critical even though we are winding down. Please discuss that with your child.

Finally, on Wednesday is our school walk through. We say good bye to Bayview by celebrating what we have. The school will be open from 300 till 700 to the community. People from the past, teachers, principals, parents, students will be coming through to visit. We hope you and your family will come through too. There is a memory wall in the hallway where you can write a little message on the wall with the sharpies that are there. Feel free to write a message anytime during the week. A memory, a wish, a want..something if you want. I hope to see you!

And with that...have a great day!

Good Morning Parents,
Can you believe we have only three weeks left of school? and three weeks left of this building???? Bittersweet. The art that is happening around the school is phenomenal as we pay tribute to our lovely school. Every child has made a "cube" for our art installation in the main hallway. I saw this installation online and I thought we could do that too! It was an idea by an artist, who calls himself...thank you x...ask your child if they remember the story. We are hoping by the time the walk through on our "say good bye to bayview" openhouse, all the children will have their cubes done and will be a part of the memory wall. Take a look, it will bring tears to your eyes...as will the butterfly wall in our upper hallway. All the children in our class, Ms. Rossignol's class and Ms. Duncan's class our part of this installation. The art at Bayview has just been profound as all the children decorate our school. I can hear children from all the grades say how beautiful our school is and how we should do this to our new school....so...maybe???? I think so too.

This last week has been awesome.
Monday...art at the beach (pictures to follow)
Tuesday....growing chef...we made a stirfry and pea soup (pictures to follow as well)
Wednesday...Deana came in and talked about wild plants and the benefits of different wild plants
Thursday...practiced our song for our Volunteer appreciation Day...which is on June 13th...we hope you can all attend...there are some small breakfast treats in the library and a celebration of everyone who has helped in the gym
Friday....a bicycle safety presentation by Constable Purewal...ask your child if they remember the ABC's

We have been busy.
We have lots of plans for next week as well.
On Monday, June 10th we will be walking to Purple Dragon for our first of two Karate classes.  Make sure your child wears good walking shoes and comfortable clothing (no flip flops or dresses) for our classes. Review the rules of behaviour with your child. Please send your pink form with 5 dollars. This 5 dollars will be for the cost of the two lessons as well as for one entry for the draw for the platter. If you would like more tickets for the platter, please send five dollars for each additonal ticket. We will draw for the platter on Friday so that we can give everyone a chance to buy the tickets. With the extra money that we have made we will be putting forth a few choices for the children to choose from...a pizza party, an ice cream party or a high tech high touch presentation. Maybe even all of them...The platter is beautiful and will be a real treasure to one household!

The children have been marvelous at staying focused and working hard.
We still have one Growing Chef class (next week) and for this I need the children to bring in one plastic, empty, with lid on, water bottle. We will be doing a little growing experiment with this. If the water bottle is full...then they can drink the water in class..and give me the bottle. Please have these to me by Wednesday.

Thank you so much and enjoy the pictures.
Have a great day.

The following are of the children working in groups or individually to create their art on the beach. In the style of Andy Goldsworthy.

Next series is of the children working in teams to make their stirfry and their pea soup.

Our platter...front and back.

All the children signed the back...and used their thumbs to make the hearts.
