Happy Sunday to everyone.
ThIt's a beautiful sunny day. I hope everyone gets out and about and enjoys the sunshine!
A big thank you to everyone who showed up for the Open House. It was great meeting some of the parents that I have not had a chance to meet before. I think the children did a wonderful job of showing you around, it was fun to see their positivity and their joy of sharing their classroom. For those who haven't had a chance to come in, you are always welcome to drop by in the morning.

Thank you to everyone who donated money for the Terry Fox Campaign. The children enjoyed walking to Jericho Beach Park and ran with all their heart. I loved to see their energy and enthusiasm as they ran to help Terry Fox fulfill his dream. I am not sure what Bayview has raised yet, but I know for sure our classroom superseded the one dollar per child. So Thank you soo much! After our energetic run we came back to the classroom and munched on freshly baked banana muffins that the grade two children made as their cooking activity. Thank you cooking moms (actually this time it was the granny's and the nanny) and thank you to everyone who helped out at the Terry Fox run!

This is a reminder that tomorrow Monday, September 28th is a professional day. I will be at the school board learning about Friendship and learning more strategies for incorporating positivity and enthusiasm and inclusion into the classroom. I can always learn more!

Then on Tuesday and Wednesday Ms. Craig will be teaching. I will be off on Wednesday so I will not be seeing my little ones till Thursday. So for this week there will be no spelling words handed out.

Reminders:
1) $20 cooking money is due.
2) It's picture taking day on Wednesday. Send your child with a clean face and combed hair.
3) Continue to do daily checks for head lice. There is a company called lice 911 that will come into the home and guarantee a lice free head. It does cost a little bit, but as headlice can be so hard to combat, sometimes this is the way to do it. But daily checks can help prevent the spreading of it. Catching it early, is easier on you. I know.

With that, enjoy the pictures.
You can see we are fully into talking about Fall and continuing our talk about Todd Parr.

Happy rainy Sunday to everyone!
This is the first blog this year to all my new parents. We are officially Division 12!
Like I said before...if may take me awhile to always remember to say that...but I will try!!
so a big welcome to DIVISION 12!!

I will try not to innundate you with my chatter..i do like to chatter, but I will just give some important messages, show you some of the pictures that I took and hope everyone got this message and gets into the routine of reading them.
Typically I will write to everyone once a week...usually on Sunday or Tuesday...as those are the easiest day for me to do the blog. If you ever have questions in between, just send me an email and I will respond to you as quickly as possible.

The children had a great week! They were pretty pooped, just getting back into the routine of listening and working and playing with each other. But I have to say I was very proud of their efforts. I have taken pictures of some of their work. Until I get a signed permission to post your childs picture (it will come home in a package soon) I cannot take pictures of children. Hopefully that will happen soon. I learned how to do pictures..yayay...and so I like to post them for you to take a look at. BTW...I'm not that computer literate, so this is big for me to blog!

Important dates and pieces of information:
1) This Thursday, Sept 24th is Bayview's open house. I'm not sure of the times, but there are posters all over the school ( Ithink 6ish). Everyone is welcome to drop by and take a walk through the school and the classroom and see what we have done in two weeks. I think you will be impressed.

2) This Friday afternoon, Sept 25th...is the Terry Fox Run. We will be running whether it is rainy or sunny, so make sure your child comes prepared with a rain jacket and running shoes. If it is overcast but not rainy we will be walking to Jericho Beach Park and running around the duck pond etc. A route will be marked out and the children will be expected to run/walk for 30 minutes. If it is torrentially raining we will be running around the school. Please either way...make sure your child is in running shoes...running in boots is dangerous and very uncomfortable. We saw a video on Friday in the gym during assembly about Terry Fox. Terry Fox's goal was to get one dollar from every person in Canada. He of course superceded his goal. We at Bayview are also hoping to get at least one dollar from every person here. If you and your family would like to donate a loonie or more it would be greatly appreciated!

3) Starting this Friday we will also be starting our cooking program. I have done a cooking program with the kids for almost 20 years. The children love it. Besides loving it, it is a fantastic way to get kids interested and even excited about eating healthy food. Kids have the opportunity to create healthy foods that teach children how to cook while learning important math and reading skills as they follow recipes and measure ingredients. This program would not be possible without the support of our cooking parents as well as 20 dollars for cooking supplies. Each child will be responsible for bringing in 20 dollars (cash please). We will use this for buying the healthy cooking ingredients as well as update some of our cooking equipment. The children will cook once every three weeks. First it will be all the grade 2's, then the grade ones, who will be divided into two groups. I have parents lined up to cook and we are all excited to get going. If you have any questions let me know.

With that,
I am done for now...I hope everyone has had a great weekend and are staying healthy!!
Hope you are feeling better Eli L.!!
Enjoy the pictures.
