Hello Parents! Here's what we were up to this Tuesday:
-MATH--Shapes--I'm trying to wrap up our learning in shapes. The Grade 1s started the shapes section from the Jump Math program today. It reinforces the concepts and equally importantly, teaches them how to work through a wordy booklet. I am so proud of them for reading the lesson at the top of the page and then following the directions independently at their desk. Back in January when I looked at the pages, I didn't think they would manage it but today, they did it and felt good doing it. They've been seeing the Grade 2s work through their pages so our Grade 2s have set a fine example. So, the Grade 2s are almost done their Jump Math section on Shapes.
**I sent booklets of a handful of students home today so they could finish up to the 'Symmetry' section. I am really hoping it's not a struggle for them to do this homework. If it is, send me a little note back and we'll get it done next Tuesday. But please please, do make sure they bring it back by next Tuesday because otherwise, they won't have anything to do or I'll have to waste paper photocopying it again. They can pop it on my desk anytime.
-C.A.R.E. kit-today's message came home: Everyone has a body.
-Reader's Theater..."The Nightingale" group is almost ready to perform!
