Good Morning Everyone!
As this is my first blog entry since we have come back from the holidays I would like to wish everyone a HAPPY NEW YEARS!!! All the children have been so wonderful and happy and excited to be back...yes they really have, as have I!
It is quite amazing to see how much seems to have solidified since they had a chance to have a brain break for two weeks. They have come back ready to learn! I was just mentioning to my husband how much they are capable of accomplishing in a day, whereas at the beginning how the tasks that they did were so daunting. So, well done everyone!!!

Last week we focused on making resolutions, promises and goals that we want to work towards accomplishing. They are very cute...many want to have clean rooms and want to read better. Yay!!

As we have started our unit on Owls, I sent the children home with the task of googling Owls, so that when we were to write about what we knew about Owls they would be able to write some fun facts...wow, they sure came back with some interesting facts. Thank you for your support.

We have been talking about Winter and have been doing a lot of creative writing on this....how to build snowmen, winter poetry, winter activities and winter art.

This week we will be beginning our new Author study...Jan Brett who is a wonderful children's writer who does have a lot of winter books in her collection. We will likely be starting with the famous one that everyone likely knows...The Mitten.

Thank you for continuing to clean out their backpacks....there are many important things in there for you to look at....on Monday's their new spelling words can be found in there, so that they can feel successful when I give them their spelling test on Friday. Other amazing things (besides remnants of their lunch) can also be found in there.

Look for:
1) Skating permission forms. They need to be returned asap so we can figure out drivers.

Finally:
1)If you would like a parent teacher or a student led conference, you must email me with a request. They will be held on the 21st and 22nd of January from 200pm till 5pm (note that on those dates there will be early dismissals)

2)Also note that on January 19th there is a Professional Day...do not send your children to school!

3) Dahlia will be visiting us with mama Ebony on Thursday...that will be our next baby visit!! Awwwww

With that, enjoy the pics.
Teri
