I think you have to be a duck to want to go outside today...well up here in the northshore anyway!
Wow, it is teaming down!! Thank goodness for rain boots, and slickers...the essentials of every Vancouver resident. I hope everyone finds time to get out there and get the fresh air in their lungs and exercise their legs. I plan to do the Rice Lake walk with all the dog lovers out there!! Maybe I'll see you there!! hahah
A big thank you to everyone who came to our student led conferences! We had one hundred percent of the students show up!!! The children were sooo proud to show their work to you and share all their successes and growth with you. I loved the way all the parents talked to their children and complimented them and cheered them on. It was two days of pure joy for me. I loved being able to interrupt for a few minutes (sometimes leading to 15 minutes) and looking into your child's eyes as I spoke to them. Those were some wonderful moments for me!
Another big thank you...all the skating forms are in and boy do we have a lot of volunteers for driving. It will be so much fun for everyone. So our first skating session is this coming up Friday. We will all meet in the classroom for 100 and leave as soon as attendance is taken. If you have signed up to drive, please be there...I have sent forms for all parents to fill out if they are driving. Only fill out the form, if you havent already done so for this school year. I put one in your child's mailbox in the events you need one. If you dont, just give it back to me. All children need to bring their carseats (unless you have already arranged with me to borrow one), their skates (unless you have to rent them), appropriate clothing, mittens, hats and helmets (if you have one). We are all looking forward to our skating sessions!
These last few weeks were all about winter. Starting next week we will be continuing winter, but in the Antarctica...and with our special little bird friends, the Penguin!! If you have any books or material that you would like to share with us, please send it along with your child's name on it. I cant wait to start our Penguin unit!!!
