Happy Family Day everyone!
I sure was hoping that it would hold off one more day from the rain. I soooo wanted to go up to Squamish, build a fire and roast a hotdog (that's what we did last year) but we had to settle for a hike in the rain!!!! Maybe next year!!
We have officially finished our Matter unit and ended it with a Bill Nye the science guy video clip. I love Bill Nye and so did all the children! They knew so much of what Bill was talking about...that was great. Last week we also started our Penguin unit. With all of the units we always start with all the things that we already know about penguins and what we would like to learn about them. A huge display is set up already of their amazing work. We will likely be continuing this unit all the way up to spring break.
On Friday we also talked about Valentine's Day both with our Buddy class and in our class. The grade ones did some beautiful writing that is put up outside our classroom about Love and what Love is....., meanwhile the grade twos baked some delicious Yam brownies for snack. With buddies we created some "valentine inchies" that will be on display likely on Wednesday. Our art project was all about Jim Dine a pop artist who exemplified the drawing and paintings of hearts. We will likely do a few more Valentine's Day activities next week as Valentine's Day has quickly approached and is already next Friday...time flies!!
A few reminders:
1. This Friday send your child with their cards (optional), and cut up fruit for our little party.
2. Dress weather appropriate....the children do go outside at recess so need to be dressed warmly and with outfits that will keep them dry.
3. This Thursday is our first skating day. The children need to come with their carseats, helmets (if they have their own), skates (unless you have paid for rentals), mittens and warm clothing. If you have volunteered to drive, please make sure that you have filled out the drivers liability form and be at the classroom for 100 to drive.
With that,
Have a great rest of the day and I will see you on Wednesday,
Take care,
Teri
