if you havent read these...do....and then save for their wedding day...they are amazing!
Let it Snow, let it snow, let it snow!!!
Can you believe all the beautiful snow that is out there?
Wow, and i am done with my winter unit...maybe we can go build some icebergs and some little snow penguins. How cute would that be! So good morning to everyone and i hope everyone is going to go for a walk in the snow today, we don't get snow like this very often! Enjoy, enjoy! With that, please if it is still snowy tomorrow, send your child with snowpants and mittens and a good hat...as well as indoor shoes. I do not want the children walking into the classroom with their snowladen boots and then going on to the carpet and sitting there getting their clothes wet, so please help your child pack their backpack tonight so they won't forget anything. Thank you for that.

Last week:
1. Skating has been amazing. In just two sessions the children who were not skating at all in session one were skating without cones in session two., And those that were skating moderately well, were playing hockey by the end of session two. The progress that the children make with skating has been phenomenal. With two more sessions left of skating I am sure we will be producing some Canadian Gold Medallists for mens and women's hockey!!! Isn't that great? Two golds...one for women and one for men.

2. We have been working on our Penguin unit. Last week we worked on where in the world did the Penguins live. We looked at a globe and at a flat map and discovered that Penguins live below the equator and we also looked at different varieties of penguins and where they were living. Oliver was very excited to share his stories of the Little Blue/Fairy penguins that he saw when he lived in Australia. We will continue to study Penguins till spring Break. We will even have Oliver's dad in to share his experiences with the Penguins when he worked in Antartica over the summers.

3. In Math the grade ones are working on adding and subtracting skills up to 10, really looking at the families that make up a number. In Grade two the boys and girls are working on different adding and subtracting strategies as well as double digit adding and subtracting without regrouping. Please practice with both grade ones and twos so that they are always comfortable with whatever skill they are working on.

This week:
1. On Wednesday Feb. 26th we will be celebrating Anti bullying by wearing Pink on this day. The Wear Pink Day concept was started in 2007 in Nova Scotia when two high school students decided to create a "Sea of Pink" to support a grade 9 boy who was called Homophobic names when he wore a pink shirt to school. On Wednesday we will have a school wide assembly to talk about bullying and how we at Bayview celebrate acceptance and diversity. We encourage all the children to wear pink on this day and we will create our own Sea of Pink during the assembly. Everyone is welcome to attend this assembly.

2. This Friday is the Gala/Silent Auction. A night of so much fun!! Our gorgeous platter will be auctioned off. It truly is a one of a kind platter, one would not know to show it from the back or the front...both sides are sooooo beautiful! I hope to see you there.

With that...i have a few belated pictures to share.
Have a great day...enjoy your day and i will see you at school on Monday....hopefully the snow will not keep me away...
