A happy Tuesday to everyone.
I hope everyone had a great long weekend, what with the Professional Day and all. The teachers worked hard at planning next years year as well as looked at wonderful ways to end this year....starting with Sports Day and then our Volunteer Tea. thats for all of our wonderful volunteers that help make Bayview the wonderful school that it is!!

This last week we had a busy week.
1. We watched Mr. A's very funny play called Zombies vs the Penguins. It was hilarious and the group of grade 5's did a marvelous job!!!!

2. We saw a puppet play called Friend to Friend...all about how to talk to your friends who might learn and listen differently than other friends. They introduced the term Autism to the children. The puppet presentation was fantastic. Ask your child if they remember some cues to use when talking to children with special needs. I will be putting up the poster later this week.

3. We celebrated Earth Day with lots of writing, art work and with a little look at the jade plant. I brought each child in a clipping of my own giant jade plant as a gift for Earth's Day. The symbolism is of luck, friendship, wealth and happiness...i thought it was appropriate for the day. The children wrote about their Jade Plant and then used water colour pencils to create their own still life of the plant.

4. We continued our exploration of Magnets and will look at a bunch of material that Magnets are attracted to and are not attracted to. Like scientists we will make predictions and then test our predictions to see if we are correct or not.
We will continue looking at Magnets for the next few weeks and doing a few experiments to reinforce the concepts then we will conclude our Unit with a High Tech High Touch Presentation. This amazing group of presenters will join our class on Wednesday May 6th from 900 am till 1045 am and they will do a hands on presentation on Force/Energy. The cost for the program is $9 per child. Please send in the money in a form of a cheque made payable to Bayview Elementary or the exact change. by the end of this week....or by Monday.

5. In gym these next few weeks the children will be doing gymnastics. It is very important that the children have appropriate clothing for gymnastics. For the girls they must not wear skirts or tights or dresses as they do the activities with bare feet, so we do not want to have any undies showing! Our gym times are on Monday, Thursdays and Friday.

6. Our Spuds have been taken outdoors, our garden is growning , we have transplanted our seedlings and have been busy little gardeners. Shortly we will need regular waterers, for now and until the end of August. If you know already that you can do a check in on the gardens let me know. If you have a day that you can always do from now till the end, let me know and i will write you in.

I think that's all I have except for a few photos. If you ever need to talk to me, feel free to come in. Also, anytime that you want to join our class to do reading, writing, art, we would love for you to join us!!
With that, I wish everyone a happy, great, and sunny week!!
