A happy belated Thanksgiving to everyone.
I hope everyone enjoyed a feast and fun with their families.
I spent yesterday cooking for two vegans, one vegetarian and 10 traditional turkey feasters. I have so many different types of leftovers and a very full belly and an even fuller heart! It is always so wonderful to get together with family and friends and just simply appreciate each other. We talked about that this past week with the children. WE made a thankful quilt. WE worked with our buddies and talked about what things we were thankful for, and if you walk outside of the library area, you will see a giant turkey with some awesome turkey feathers filled with thankful words. I would just like to say how thankful I am for all the wonderful children and all the supportive parents we have in this room.  When parents, children and the school all work together the harmony is evident. So thank you for that!

This next week we will be beginning a look at pumpkins. WE will learn how to lable the inside and outside of a pumpkin. WE will do pumpkin writing and pumpkin art. And in two weeks Monday, October 26th we will be going on a field trip to the UBC farms to talk about harvesting vegetables, how vegetables and fruit grow, what a farm is, how organic gardening is done ....and then this will lead us into the mulching and planting of cover crops and garlic in our own school garden. I will be sending out a permission, information slip very soon for the field trip. There will be no charge for this field trip as we have been granted some money from the PAC so all I will be needing is drivers and signed permission slips.

Thank you to:
1) Everyone who has donated food for our Food Bank Drive. If you still want to support the Food Bank Drive we are collecting non-perishible items until this Friday.

2) To all the parents who have helped encourage the children to eat their lunches at lunch time. It isnt always easy. To the parents, please make sure that your child "like" what is being sent as they often will say, I HATE THIS! and then that makes it very difficult for the supervising parent. Also as we are encouraging healthy eating, please try not to pack, candies, chips, chocolate bars and pop....and try to find an alternative treat like a home baked cookie , fruit snacks etc. I sure appreciate everyone's efforts.

3) To Maggie and Maggie's family for donating a Todd Parr book to our classroom collection called, "It's Okay to make Mistakes". We love that book!

Finally a reminder:
Parent Teacher conferences are next Tuesday and Wednesday. If you havent signed up for a time and you would like to come in and talk to either Catherine or myself, send me an email and I will slot you in for a time.

With that, have a wonderful week!
Teri
