It was wonderful seeing a lot of the parents at the Gala on Friday. Wow, Mr. T you looked amazing with that "out of this world" eye paint, and my compliments to you for your auctioning skills. The gym looked so fantastic! Thank you to all the parents who helped with the decorating! I heard Theo also helped out creating little planets for the decorations. They were amazing!! And congratulations to Karine (Teo's mom) who got the beautiful Division 10 platter! You have an original work of art! Thank you for purchasing it. All the money that was raised from the gala goes back to the children. In fact we have something coming up for the children that PAC funds will go to.
This coming up Wednesday the children will be involved in a BEADING workshop.
Our students will have an opportunity to make their own beaded necklace and learn about the cultural and spiritual significance of beadwork to Indigenous People; materials, patterns, techniques and symbolic meanings.
The program focus connects to curricular content and competencies (Social Studies, Arts, Math), as well as core competencies, (Creative Thinking).
Their will be NO cost for the beading workshop as the money was given to us by the PAC to use for special activities just like this.THANK YOU to the PAC for helping to fund this learning activity! It would be fun and helpful to have parent volunteers, please join us is you are able!
We will be in the room just outside of the library (the spare room). Our time is between 1100 and 1200. Let me know if you can help.
We have been working hard at school despite all these fun events!
WE are doing a measuring unit in math (as well as continuing with our numeration). The children are getting very good at using rulers to measure things and know how to estimate in centimeters.
IN Science we are learning about water cycle and will be starting out unit on matter and different states of matter.
In Language arts we are starting our Poetry unit. On Friday we learned what a concrete or shape poem is and we wrote a poem about RAIN....(rain being a part of our water cycle) everything we do is so connected. Even our art has a water cycle spin to it...stay tuned for our lovely new windsocks that we are currently making!
We continue to have our weekly Roots of Empathy program with Jung. We are working on making connections with a babies feelings to our own feelings. Learning about emotions and how to deal with emotions and communicate your feelings change as you get older. The children are getting very good at the skills that Jung is teaching.
Thank you to all the parents who have stepped up to drive for skating. We have one more session.
The ability of the kids and how fast they have become more confident in their skating is wonderful. Thank you to Jayden for helping encourage so many children!! You are an amazing skater!!
With that, enjoy your lovely day. I see blue sky!
And I will see you all tomorrow.
If you can help with beading, send me a little email.
By the way, student led conferencing is coming up soon. I will be sending a separate email to let you know of times. Looking forward to seeing you all soon!

First they had to write the poem, then get it editted (by me) and then re-write.
Our water cycle poster projects.
Learning about collection, evaporation, condensation, precipitation and transpiration...pretty big words!! But I think they are getting it!
