Well...the results are mixed. The American Phil...says it spring, as does Winnipegs Whiarton Willie. Then we have Shubenacadie SAm and Quebec Fred...they say it will be Winter...so for me...i think i will listen to our nearest neighbour Willie!!
I would like to start this blog with Thanking everyone for my lovely Wonder-full door and the amazing dishes that were served to the teachers at our Teacher Appreciation luncheon on Wednesday. OMG...it was lovely!! My belly was full till the next day!!Thank you so much.
I would also like to thank all my drivers and skate tiers for our skating day yesterday. It all worked out very well. I was very proud of all the children who tried sooo hard, despite the number of times their bottoms hit the ice...as well as a cheek..hope you are feeling better Theo!
The children listened well to the rules of staying on the ice and not going into the bleachers. They were good with only using the cones...or not....they were bears..they were brave!! WE will be going again next Friday. I will l send out a reminder again next week.
This week we learned another strand of our core competencies through our study of the lessons that we can learn from our Pacific Northwest Coast Animals. This is the question Eagle explores as he settles into a tall grove of cedar trees. First we learned about the Wolf...and how he is an active listener. With the help of Deana, our indigenous support teacher, she talked about the values of the bear. The bear being a reflector, who listens to his inner voice. He thinks and then he understands. He sees what is going on around him and helps those. He is brave and caring. We did some wonderful writing and put their writing into some beautiful Ted Harrison Art. Come and read their words!!
All week we have been working on emotions, love and caring (Valentine's Day is around the corner).
WE have also been talking about our natural resources and that we have to really look after our natural resources as our life and well being rely on it. The natural resource that we are focussing on is WATER!!
If you come into our classroom..you can see how busy we have all been!
Reminders:
1. There is a professional day on Monday. So enjoy your long weekend with your lovelies.
2. The Bayview Gala is around the corner...and is our platter ever lovely!! For the gala, we are also in charge of a silent auction box...we are "DAte night". If you can donate something to the box, that would be great......starbuck certificates, wine, chocolates...what more do you need for a great date??? But the choices are endless. All money raised from the gala goes back to the school and ultimately to your child.xooxoxo
With that..have a great weekend.
Go Patriots??
Go Rams???
I just go for the wings!!! ahhah
