What beautiful weather we are having!! Time to enjoy the sunshine and the outdoors! We have been waiting a long time for this and lets hope it lasts for a while! Because of this sudden gorgeous weather I spoke to the children about things that they need to remember and do to keep themselves happy and healthy. We made a list of things to do: 1) wear a hat 2) put on sunscreen 3) wear cooler clothing 4) drink plenty of fluids (water) and refill the water bottles on their desks often.
We had a great and fun filled week.
On Tuesday we met our Swiss student. Her name is Melanie Fuster. She will be with us for the next three weeks and will be participating in our day to day activities as well as be teaching us about Switzerland and some different art projects that are popular in her little community. So if you see her around, stop and have a little chat!
Tuesday also brought us our visiting workshop from Hi Tech Hi Touch. I had to miss it but the presenter found me in the afternoon to tell me what a wonderful and smart group of children our class is. She was so happy to teach them and hear all that they have learned about forces already. She gave each of the children a magnet as a thank you gift for participation for them to do more experiments at home with!
On Friday Nikoo once again donned her bee costume and became Bee-koo.She talked about the importance of Bees once again and then as a group we went outside to look at insects and she taught us how to use our POOTERS....we would gently suck up a bug into containers and then observe them (ask your child how they did it without swallowing the insects!!). Meanwhile we also watered our garden at the church. With this hot weather we are hoping that families will just walk over and water. It can be watered more than once a day...just whenever you have time go and water. When I went over there everything was soooooo dry and our spuds were just lying flat..awww...they need water like we do! I also transplanted our tomatoe plants out back so they could also use some tlc!
Coming up next week:
1) On Thursday June 1st, Deana and a colleague will be coming in and we will be making bannock! That will be lots of fun!
2) Then on Friday June 2nd we will be joining Ms. Jung's class for our potlatch. Yum, I can't wait
Finally:
1) If you go to the following website... beesmatter.ca you can sign up to get a packet of free seeds to plant with your children that are bee friendly flowers that will help increase our bee population
2) A big thank you to all the parents who did show up for our little tribute to them. If you didnt come read our cupcake poster of thanks outside the classroom!! The children all sounded so adorable as they sang their appreciation song to you!!
With that have a great weekend...and enjoy the pictures!!
