And a good morning to all the dads and children too!!
This week Mom was our topic. We talked about you every single day and declared that Mother's Day is not just today (Sunday) but it is every day...and so we decided to do something for Mom on a daily basis. We wrote little love notes to you, wrote metaphorical poetry about you, and did some art for you, we made cards and presents for you and then I gave them some love challenges...so last week mamas you were to have received an I love you, a random act of kindness, and a massage!! They were all eager to tell me if they did all their challenges in the morning!! You haven't yet seen all their wonderful love just yet as we are not quite finished one of our projects..but just you wait!! You are certainly loved!!!
This week we also started our new unit in Science and it's all about Water. These last few months will bring is to a clearer understanding of the importance of WATER and how we should be conserving it. We will learn about the Water Cycle as well as renewable resources and non renewable resources and as always we start our unit with ...what we already know about water.
We are also the proud classroom of two little tadpoles. We will be watching them grow....their names are Tad and Pole..hahah.
We had two guests come in to do some special units with the children. Deana came in and we finished our Button Blankets. We learned about the special shapes on the art ....ovoids, s shapes etc and used these to paint on our Blankets and also to draw our own special pictures..they are amazing. We also had Nikoo in (we called her Bee-koo today) as she talked about the importance of bees and we particularly looked at the Mason Bees. On her visit we made our own Mason Bee house...the children created bundles and are putting it together to make one giant insect hotel. We are not quite finished it...and I will take pictures when we are.
As you can see we had a busy week of learning with many hands on activities!
This coming week:
It is a short four day week for the children as Friday is a Professional Day.
On Thursday it is SPORTS DAY. The children will be divided into colour groups (I will be assigning them their colour tomorrow). It is a go rain or shine. If it is raining we will have our sports day inside the school!! Crazy, but it works!! I could use some parents to hang out with our class..to carry our water bottles with us..to do bathroom runs etc. The snack will be provided for by the PAC..thank you PAC. This year no one was able to do the HOT DOG SALES>..so Mrs. Applebee, Ms. Jung and myself decided that no Sports Day should go with out hotdogs and chips. So we are going to have a picnic in my class and us teachers are going to provide the children with all beef hotdogs and a little treat. We thought that would be fun!!
If your child does not like hotdogs...send a lunch...but if they do...then you are good just to send them in their colours...It is always a fun, exhausting, crazy day!!
Finally..just to end this email.
Please remember to send the 15 dollars...for the hi tech hi touch presentation and the potlatch as soon as possible.
Thank you and enjoy the pictures!
