Good Morning and welcome back to school.
It was a great first week back considering that the first day of school was also April Fools day!!
Did your child tell you that I pranked them??? AWWWW...we went looking for the Lirpa Loof bird and we just couldnt find him. We waved those carrots high in the trees and still no lirpa loof bird. When we came back inside we googled additional information on this bird and realized that if you read the word lirpa and loof back wards it said...April Fool! I dont think they liked this very much. It's not nice of teachers to prank their children...said the children!! But it sure was cute. Unfortuneately my camera's battery died so i didnt take as many pictures as i wanted to...here are a few though.

On the Tuesday, the Growing Chef team came in and we talked about seeds and how different seeds grow into different plants. The children planted and tasted beets, peas and lettuce. We also drew little welcome pictures for our garden. By Friday the seeds were already growing!  You should also see our Spuds in Tubs!! We spent some additional time rediscussing our spuds and looking once again at our little seed potatoes, that is why your child came home with a little spud...plant it and see if yours will grow. On Friday Jo (Theo's mom) took the children out to plant peas and beets directly into the soil in our garden boxes at the church. We also weeded the gardens. The children understand that weeds are not a great addition to a garden as it takes away the light and space for our necessary plants to grow.

On Wednesday we talked about our spring flower the daffodil, did some daffodil writing (poetry) and pictures and took a walk to the church to see our beautiful bulbs growing there.
We also enjoyed a visit from Jung and we talked about safety for baby Liya as she becomes more mobile. Then on Thursday we had a baby visit with mama Christine and baby Liya. She sure has grown and with all her movements, she kept the children very amused. We are working on writing some safety rules for Christine.

On Friday we talked about the rain and how April is the month for rain...April showers bring May flowers. We wrote rain poetry and have some beautiful and stormy rainy day pictures to go with them!

Thank you for remembering to do the daily home reading. The children are getting sooo good at reading out loud to each other and have come a long way with their fluency.

Have a great Sunday and I will see everyone on Monday.
Enjoy the pictures.
