We were so lucky to have such wonderful weather!! Im almost okay with a little rain today as it has allowed me to take a break from the gardening and come inside and do some indoor chores!! (but tomorrow it can be sunny again!)
This will be a short blog as I want to want to add lots of pictures...as well as highlight the important things for the upcoming week.
1) Tomorrow we will have a busy day...at 930 am we will have a representative from Native Shoes (thank you Lindsay ...and Hadley and Tea) who will be giving us a recycling presentation. This program and Earth Day tie in nicely together and I am excited to be seeing the presentation. With all of the items that are being tossed out of the classrooms due to the school tear down..maybe Tom will have some ideas for us and what we can do with our "treasures".
2) Immediately after recess we will then have our Growing Chef team coming in. I sent home a letter explaining what we need for this day..but I will remind everyone...please send in a vegetable with your child. This vegetable does not have to be one that they like...but perhaps a vegetable that they have never tried and would like to learn about. Send part of it in chopped into tiny pieces (about 25 little chunks) and keep the other half to show to the class. Maybe your child could also write a little bit about it down..where in the world it comes from??? what can you make with it..etc. Also we are asking all the children to bring in a recipe..favourite family one..that has a vegetable in the making of it. It could be a muffin recipe...or a savoury recipe. If you cannot bring the recipe tomorrow..that's fine...but the vegetable is important for tomorrow. Thank you.
3) In the afternoon of Tuesday we will be doing Earth Day activities in the class. So coming back to school tomorrow will be full of fun and hands on learning activities.
We have a busy rest of the week as well what with Jung coming in to do her Roots of Empathy activities as well as many other fun/learning projects. We have started our Forces unit...how things move and on Thursday we watched Bill Nye the science guy and learned about Newton's Laws...and about the word motion! We will continue to learn about Newton's Laws and at the end of this project the children will be asked to design a vehicle that "moves". Start thinking of a plan with your child now...more details as the lesson progresses.
With that, I hope your bellies are full of turkey(or something yummy) and your hearts are full of love.
I look forward to seeing you all tomorrow.
Enjoy the pictures
