Good morning everyone!
I think today will be a beautiful day outside...time to enjoy the sunshine after all the rain yesterday! Sun and rain give food to all of our plants out there!! Thats what we have been talking about in class as well! We have been watering our plants in our class(rain)...all plants need water to survive and we have them placed near the windows (sunshine)...all plants need that to survive as well...and we have been giving them lots of love and attention! WE talk to them ALL the time!! And boy are our plants growing!! The spuds have been hilled! That means they have been given more soil...we have filled the buckets right up to the top with the compost..this will allow more spuds to grow in the tub and the plant to grow to its fullest. We added fertilizer and more water...as soon as the weather gets a little bit nicer..we will take them to the church garden and watch them grow over there...
As for our plants that the children planted with the Growing Chef program...wow..they are also getting very large and I think with the next session we will be doing some transplanting!! We will have a lot of greenery in our classroom for the last months of school.
The chefs will be here once again on Tuesday for a lesson.

This last week we had Jung visit our classroom twice. She talked about the importance of "communication". How babies communicate and how we communicate. We started a little poetry book for our baby Liya which we will give to her as a present at the end of our program.

On Thursday we had our family teams..the children enjoyed making book marks for the book sale which is coming up.
And on Friday the children had a very busy day. Especially Theo.Theo was the principal of the day (along with his brother Casper). Theo provided the children and the staff with an extra long recess...thank you Theo...and was busy reading to the different classrooms...we got to have Theo read to us as well..thank you Theo.
Also on Friday we had Rhea come in. Rhea teaches multi cultural dance around the lower mainland. We had the opportunity to have a free workshop with her thanks to Hjalmar's family. Because of their family connection she wanted to come in and share her passion with us. She taught us a Nepali dance. We saw a slide show and listened to some music from Nepal and then practiced some dancing. It was a lot of fun. Ask your child about this.

This coming week is a short week. There is no school on Friday..being as it is our Easter Weekend. But in our four days, we will be very busy! One of the things that we do EVERY day is read our home reading. Please remember to bring the bag back every day. By this point the routine should be set up...read..and put the home reading bag back into their back pack. The children read to each other for about 30 minutes. Establishing a routine for them and them being responsible, will help them as they move up through the grades. Thank you for supporting this.

With that, have a great Sunday. Enjoy the pictures.
